Adding Timeslots Faster
When creating events with multiple time options, there are efficient ways to add timeslots that can save you significant time. This guide covers the fastest methods to add timeslots to your events.
Quick Overview
WhenToMeet offers two powerful features for adding multiple timeslots quickly:
- Drag-to-Select - Create custom duration slots by dragging across the calendar
- Slot Length Presets - Add multiple slots of the same duration with single clicks
Using Drag-to-Select for Custom Durations
The drag-to-select feature is perfect when you need to add timeslots with specific start and end times.
How to Use Drag-to-Select
- Open the event creation or editing page
- Locate the Slot Length dropdown above the calendar
- Select "Custom (drag)" from the dropdown
- Click on your desired start time in the calendar and hold
- Drag to your desired end time
- Release to create the timeslot
When to Use Drag-to-Select
- Creating timeslots with specific boundaries (e.g., 2:30 PM - 4:15 PM)
- Adding timeslots that span unusual durations
- Creating multiple non-overlapping custom timeslots quickly
Using Slot Length Presets
Slot length presets allow you to add multiple timeslots of a consistent duration with simple clicks or by dragging.
Available Preset Durations
- 15 minutes
- 30 minutes
- 45 minutes
- 1 hour
- 1.5 hours
- 2 hours
- Custom (drag) - for manual selection
How to Use Slot Length Presets
- Open the event creation or editing page
- Locate the Slot Length dropdown above the calendar
- Select your desired preset duration (e.g., "1 hour")
- Click on any start time in the calendar to create a single slot
- OR drag across multiple time slots to create several consecutive slots of the same duration in one gesture
- Continue clicking or dragging to add more timeslots as needed
Click vs. Drag with Fixed Lengths
- Single Click: Creates one timeslot of your selected duration at the clicked time
- Click and Drag: Creates multiple consecutive timeslots of the same fixed duration - perfect for adding several 1-hour slots in a row
This is different from Custom (drag) mode, where dragging defines a single slot's custom start and end time.
When to Use Preset Durations
- Creating multiple meeting slots of consistent length
- Setting up recurring appointment options
- Quickly filling a day with available time blocks
Best Practices
Combining Both Methods
You can switch between preset durations and drag-to-select at any time:
- Use presets for most of your timeslots
- Switch to drag-to-select for special cases with custom durations
- Switch back to presets to continue adding standard-length slots
Planning Your Timeslots
Before adding timeslots, consider:
- Meeting Type: Different meetings may need different durations
- Buffer Time: Leave gaps between slots if needed for breaks or transitions
- Time Zones: Remember that participants may see times in their local time zone
Removing Timeslots
If you make a mistake:
- Click on any timeslot to remove it
- You can quickly adjust your selections before finalizing the event
Tips for Maximum Efficiency
- Start with Presets: Use the most common duration for the majority of your timeslots
- Group Similar Durations: Add all 1-hour slots first, then switch to 30-minute slots if needed
- Use Drag for Outliers: Switch to drag-to-select only for special cases
- Preview Before Sending: Review all timeslots before sharing the event with participants
