Search Tips

Natural Language Queries

The command palette understands natural language, so you can search using phrases like:

  • "create event" → finds "Create New Event"
  • "dark mode" → finds "Toggle Theme"
  • "sign out" → finds "Sign Out"
  • "my account" → finds "My Account"

Keyword Matching

Commands are matched based on multiple keywords, so try different terms:

  • "events", "calendar", "meetings" → all find event-related commands
  • "help", "support", "faq" → all find help commands
  • "billing", "subscription", "payment" → all find billing commands

Context-Aware Results

The command palette shows different commands based on your current state:

  • When logged out: Shows "Sign In" and "Get Started"
  • When logged in: Shows "My Account", "Billing", and "Sign Out"
  • Empty states: Shows relevant hints and quick actions

Keyboard Navigation

The command palette is fully keyboard accessible:

  • Cmd+K / Ctrl+K - Open/close the palette
  • / - Navigate through results
  • Enter - Execute selected command
  • Escape - Close the palette
  • Tab - Cycle through results (alternative to arrow keys)

The command palette features:

  • Clean, modern interface that matches WhenToMeet's design
  • Grouped commands for easy browsing
  • Icons for visual command identification
  • Smooth animations and transitions
  • Responsive design that works on all screen sizes

The command palette is built with accessibility in mind:

Troubleshooting

Command Palette Not Opening

  • Make sure you're pressing the correct key combination (Cmd+K on Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux)
  • Try refreshing the page if the shortcut isn't working
  • Check that no other application is intercepting the keyboard shortcut

Commands Not Appearing

  • Some commands only appear when you're logged in (like "My Account" or "Billing")
  • Make sure you're searching with the right keywords
  • Try broader search terms if specific commands aren't showing

Search Not Working

  • The search is case-insensitive, so "CREATE" works the same as "create"
  • Try different keywords if your search isn't returning results
  • Use natural language phrases for better results

Tips for Power Users

Memorize Common Shortcuts

  • Cmd+KEnter for "Create New Event" (quick event creation)
  • Cmd+K → type "theme" → Enter for quick theme switching
  • Cmd+K → type "settings" → Enter for quick settings access

Use Search Effectively

  • Type the first few letters of what you want to do
  • Use action words: "create", "view", "manage", "toggle"
  • Think about the end result, not the exact command name
